McShiharo Legacy || God of War Lore
Kratos has carried weapons forged by gods, stolen from titans, and gifted by fate itself. Across every era of his life, five weapons stand above all others. Here is the definitive ranking.
#5. Nemean Cestus
God of War III
The Nemean Cestus is a pair of massive lion-headed gauntlets known for their perfect blend of strength and speed. Initially short-ranged due to their design, their chain-linked attacks allow for surprising reach. These gauntlets deliver devastating shockwaves, similar to the Barbarian Hammer, but with far greater versatility. Kratos can unleash repeated shockwave attacks using magic or combos, making the Cestus one of his most powerful close-range weapons.

#4. Draupnir Spear
God of War: Ragnarök
The Draupnir Spear, introduced in God of War Ragnarök, becomes Kratos’ third major weapon. Crafted from the endlessly-replicating ring Draupnir, the spear holds endless potential and explosive power. Its primary purpose was strategic. it was created specifically to overcome Heimdall, the God of Foresight, whose ability to anticipate attacks required a weapon that could outsmart him. This spear also represents legacy, identity, and Kratos’ acceptance of his role as a god once again.

#3. Leviathan Axe
God of War (2018) & Ragnarök
The Leviathan Axe appears in God of War (2018) as Kratos’ primary weapon during the Norse Era. Created by the legendary dwarven smiths Brok and Sindri, it was originally forged to oppose the destructive power of Thor’s Mjölnir. The Guardian Kratos’ wife passed this Axe to him before her death.
Symbolically, the Axe represents Kratos’ transformation. Unlike the destructive fury tied to the Blades of Chaos, the Leviathan Axe mirrors his new, calmer identity a warrior who fights to protect rather than destroy. Its existence also highlights the thematic contrast between Kratos’ restraint and Thor’s bloodlust.

#2. Blade of Olympus
God of War II & III
Imbued with godly power, this blade ended the lives of gods like Athena, Cronos, and even Zeus. It is Kratos’ ultimate divine weapon during his Greek rampage feared, final, and tragically personal .In terms of the canon, this might be the most powerful weapon in the series, and the gameplay does justice to it. In fact, you can only use this weapon at the beginning and the ending of God of War 2, unless you’re playing the new game plus.

“No matter how far he runs from his past, the Blades of Chaos remain iconic.”
#1. Blades of Chaos
Full God of War Franchise
Chained to his wrists by Ares as a mark of servitude, the Blades of Chaos became the defining symbol of Kratos’ entire legend. They allow incredible combinations that can hit multiple enemies at once, enable grappling from afar, and provide agility across terrain that no other weapon can match.
They were his chains. Then they became his power. Then they became his burden. And when he returned to them in the Norse saga. when he reached into that chest and wrapped them around his arms again it was one of the most powerful moments in gaming history.
