Kratos is already in another universe. In God of War 2018, before Kratos cuts down that tree at the very start of the game, two totems stand beside him one his own, one belonging to Atreus. Small details. Easy to miss. And yet, somehow, those very same totems ended up in a completely different world.
Clue #1- The Cold Axe
In Horizon Forbidden West, while exploring a snowy region, Aloy finds an axe stuck in a tree. Her first comment is that it is a very cold axe an unmistakable nod to the Leviathan Axe’s frost enchantment. She follows the tracks, which lead her to a nearby house. Inside she finds a totem that is basically the same one standing beside Kratos at the opening of God of War 2018.
Clue #2- The Arrow-Filled Tree
While exploring a beach, Aloy finds a tree filled with arrows and does the same thing follows the tracks to see what she might find. Her investigation leads to yet another totem, but this time it is the one belonging to Atreus. The developers didn’t just plant one Easter egg. They built a complete trail for players to follow.

🎮 Why This Matters
Both God of War and Horizon are flagship PlayStation exclusives. This Easter egg is a carefully crafted love letter from the Guerrilla Games team to Santa Monica Studio. The attention to detail is remarkable the cold axe matching Leviathan’s frost power, the arrow-filled tree echoing Atreus’ hunting style, and Aloy’s genuine reaction to both discoveries.
It raises a question that is impossible to ignore: could Kratos and Atreus have actually passed through this world? And if so where did they go next?
